FAQ Section
No. When you "purchase" or "lease" any sounds from online sites (i.e Artlist, BeatStars or Youtube), it is considered public access. Meaning anybody can have that same bass line or guitar melody that you have. For Sync Licensing, if it's not custom then it can cause Copyright issues, challenges with ownership and Content ID take-downs. Music Supervisors stay away from these issues that can cause legal trouble.
Every time! Best practice is to keep it to a max of 4 people per song. The percentage of the song has to equal up to 100% (for sound recording side) and is signed by everyone involved. For example: If there's Four Writers, that's 25% for everyone. Or it could be 15% / 20% /10% / 55%. As long as it equals 100% because even if 1% is missing, it will be disregarded and not considered "complete" for any placement opportunities.
More than likely the platform will flag and take down your song/content. To be on the safe side, go custom by collaborating or paying a musician to play something brand new and original so you don't have to worry about Publishing or Copyright claims. You can do that on your Artist Mixtape, just not for Sync.
Noooooo. Making Music for TV & Film is much different than making music for your Artist Project or a Label. Some people will be slick and try to slide it in there, but what's the point of sabotaging your career and compromising the Trust of someone who's trying to help you get paid? That's a long conversation to have but just know it's a No! Use AI to help you find places to eat or answer questions on how to find Sync Representation, not to produce your creative art.
